10 things you really shouldn't say to a pregnant woman

Pardon me while I rant (blame it on the hormones)

It truly amazes me the things I have had people say to me in these last almost 7 months I've been pregnant. I find myself often wondering 'seriously?, did you really just say that to me?'. I'm the least confrontational person ever but I decided it would make for an interesting post to blog about the things that have been said to me so far & how I wish I could respond...

1. 'Wow, when's that baby due? Today?' or 'Are you sure there's not twins in there?' 'You're so big!'- Even if indeed I was due today there's no need to comment on it. And, yes, I'm pretty positive after the 4 ultrasounds I've had I am NOT having twins.

2. When I tell people I'm having a boy.. 'aw, that sucks' or 'at least it's your first so you can keep trying for a girl' -  This is the worst for me. I truly would not have cared either way whether we were having a boy or girl but I was and still am over the moon that we're having a boy first. We could have 7 boys and I would be just as happy.

3. 'Was it an accident?' or 'Was it planned?' - I'm sure I'm guilty of asking this same question at some point but I never realized how offensive it was until I got pregnant. Who cares if it was or wasn't? We're pregnant. God is blessing us with the miracle of a baby. We're happy. The end.

4. 'Babies aren't cheap ya know?' -  Oh really? I had no idea from all the purchases we have already made and the multiple financial conversations with my husband..who so happens to be a financial planner.

5. 'Get some sleep while you can' - I'd love to...however my bladder has different plans for me and by 5AM my back hurts so bad there's no point in trying to sleep.

6. 'How much weight have you gained?'- would you ask a woman who WASN'T pregnant this question?? I hope not! Also, I don't know nor do I really want to know the answer to that question. My baby is healthy I'm not eating twinkies and coke at every meal, good enough.

7. 'Have you gotten any stretch marks?' - If I have I'm not going to tell you, again...none of your business!

8. The amount of random people that touch my belly without asking. I truly don't care people touching my belly but please ask first! Especially if you are a strange man in an elevator and it's just me and you..or me, you and 124 other people..still ask first! I work for a doctor and on a daily basis that we are in clinic about 6 out 10 people reach across the counter and touch my belly. I'm becoming increasingly worried that one of these days i'm going to reach out and smack someone!

9. 'You're too young to have a baby aren't you?'- I must have missed the memo where you have to be a certain age to have a baby but since you asked I'm 24 and am married to my baby's daddy but thanks so much for your concern.

10. 'You're never going to look the same'- Oh gee, thanks! That's just what I wanted to hear since my self esteem is already sky rocketting!

I'm learning to brush these comments off and tell myself that most people really mean nothing by these comments and don't see how humorous they are. But, if you find yourself telling a pregnant lady how 'big' or 'huge' she is maybe stop while you're ahead :)

Missi

For those who follow me on any social media outlet or know me even at all know that currently our 2 1/2 year old golden retriever pretty much has me (AND Cliff) wrapped around her finger..or paw. I figure after September she's quickly going to be pushed to the back burner so yes, I'm writing a post on my dog. I got Missi for Cliff the Christmas before we got engaged. She was 6 weeks old and the tiniest little bundle of fluff, I loved her instantly. She and I have always had a close bond but throughout my pregnancy she's been my little shadow. She knows I can't handle her on a leash so she gets to play outside and go on walks sans leash with me. She always stays right by my side and only lets me out of her sight for a minute. She's started feeling her brother kick her when she lays on my belly and I think she knows her future best friend forever is in there. I won't go on about her, I'm sure you're already thinking I'm a crazy dog lady but I thought she deserved her own post before her spotlight is permanently taken away.

The day I went to pick her up..in KY on Christmas Eve!

She even helped Cliff propose :)

Ok, ok I'm done!

First Timer!

I've never been one for blogging but I figure all that we currently have going on in life right now this would be the best way to keep track of it all! I'm sure I'll have all of about 2 people that look at it but that's ok with me.

Just to get you all (or just my mom) caught up on mine and Cliff's crazy life we're currently living in a 600 sq ft apartment while our house is being built. It hasn't been terrible but we are definitely starting to get a little stir crazy. Here's a small collage of our house progress

And here's the most current picture

Needless to say we cannot wait to move in! Our lease on our apt is up on Aug 15 and our builder recently gave us a rough closing estimate of the 3rd or 4th week of Aug. We reminded him of our apartment move out date, AND that ill be 8 months pregnant and he seemed to think we could be in by the 15th. Fingers crossed.

In a way I'll be sad to move out of the Player's Club (yes, that's really the name of our complex) its where we've been almost my entire pregnancy and we've learned so much about each other being here. Some good, some bad! Missi has actually loved it, she's made tons of new friends and has a huge grassy field that I'm afraid she thinks is her own backyard, complete with a creek! We're also right next to an Agricultural center where the Metro Nashville PD keeps their mounted patrol horses and they've been kind enough to humor this crazy pregnant lady and her dog and let us come pet them.

One of the very few belly shots you'll see of me :) 26 almost 27 weeks.

I can't promise I'll have anything too exciting to say but I will try to keep the blog up to date with our latest excitement!
